Senior Portrait Session :: Grand Bend, Ontario
posted September 2nd, 2009 by Stacey

If you’re Canadian, you probably think “Senior Portrait Session” means photographs of someone over 65.  I know that’s what I thought when I first heard about these sessions.  However, if you are American, you’ll know exactly what Senior Sessions are all about - high school graduation photos with an extreme twist (as you will see below).

Last month, I had the extreme pleasure of photographing Miss Amber’s Senior Portraits - she will be graduating high school next June.  Miss A and her family are from the state of Michigan and have cottage in the Grand Bend area.  It seemed appropriate to have Amber’s photos done here in Ontario for something totally different.  I had so much fun photographing Amber’s session and I think Amber had a lot of fun changing into several different outfits and having her sister do her hair and make-up differently for each “chapter” of our session.

Here are just a few photos from the evening:

Amber plays golf on the school team.

I would probably try playing golf once if I could play with pink golf clubs!

Next, the “blue” outfit with these awesome heels.

The natural light here was awesome.

Next - the “Elly May Clampett” look in a neighbours soya bean field.

I loved these photos with the ladder in the field.

This was my absolute favourite image from the entire session with the super funky lighting.

Next and final stop - the beach. The sunset was fantastic.

Note 2010 is written in the sand - which will be Amber’s graduating class year. Mine was 1996 (Grade 13) - my how time flies!

These last few in the sand dunes were also some of my fav’s.

One of those images when I can’t decide if colour or black & white is better. I love both here.

Cover Girl Amber.

Hopefully Senior Sessions will become more popular here in Canada soon. They are just so much fun!

I’ll be posting Amber’s slideshow soon.

I can’t agree more, the Senior Sessions I think are much more appealing than the traditional Graduate Photos. I think it lets their true personality show through.
Amber looks awesome, I am sure she will remeber these photo’s forever.
