Jennifer and Tom were married on May 29 at Golden Beach Resort which is located on Rice Lake just outside of Roseneath. This was not the original location for their wedding though. Less than 3 months from their wedding day, they found out their wedding venue closed their doors and were no longer in business! Imagine looking for a new wedding location so close to your wedding date - stress. Jen and Tom, however, found out about Golden Beach Resort and when they visited in person, they were absolutely thrilled! PHEW! So…it all worked out for the better in the end.
Golden Beach Resort is on the south side of Rice Lake. If you look straight across the lake, you see Peterborough. I arrived the evening before the wedding. Remind me not to travel on the 401 eastbound on a Friday afternoon again - yikes. It took me over 5 hours to get there - the 401 was slower than molasses in January. It took me just under 3 hours to come home on Saturday night so I essentially sat on the 401 for 2 hours on the way there. It was hot and aggravating - but that’s life. When I arrived, I had a great night’s sleep in one of the beautiful resort homes - I was extremely thankful Jen and Tom were able to put me there for the night.
This is the sunset before the wedding day.
The wedding day begins.
Jen & Tom’s dog Lucy was carrying the rings on her back. This was the first time I had ever seen a dog wear a wedding veil : )
Jen’s grandfather walked her down the aisle.
I love dove releases.
Tom wrote Jen a (very special) song and sang it to her a cappella. You’ve really got to give a guy credit for doing that, especially in front of so many people.
Congratulations to Jen and Tom!
I met with Crystal and Denis at Dundas Square in Toronto for their engagement session on June 15. It was a nice day - not hot and not cold. City sessions are rare for me so it’s always fun to make the trek to downtown Toronto for a photo session. Urban shoots are actually somewhat challenging for me because I’m so used to shooting in secluded areas with sand, water, rocks, lots of trees and no high-rise buildings. I’m always up for a good challenge though. There were a kazillion people at Dundas Square which always seems to be the case there - another challenge for a country girl photographer!
Crystal and Denis are tying the knot in the GTA later this summer. For now, here are some photos from our engagement session together!
We came across this alley way just around the corner from Dundas Square with all these cool coloured walls - red, orange, yellow, green and purple. Loved it!
And of course it’s easy to find some good old fashion graffiti in Toronto.
Looks like someone’s been working out!
Loved this funky floor inside some building.
We ended the session in the parking garage.
Happy Canada Day! Just got back from the good ol’ Priceville fireworks and thought I would blog.
Feast your eyes on Julie and Darren’s wedding book! I dropped it off to them last night just before my tennis lesson. It’s a 9×12 Fine Art Book with 23 spreads - a nice thick book!
It arrives in a cute and nice black box.
Front and back covers.
My favourite thing about these books is the nice thick spine so when it’s sitting on a shelf you’ll be able to really see the big “Julie & Darren” from across the room.
Fine art archival matte paper to last a lifetime.
A few of my favourite spreads.
This one might be my fav - I love Julie’s shoes!
Julie and Darren gifted me with a 3-pack of tennis balls! Now I have no excuse not to practice outside of my lessons! I’m going to be practicing my serve against the shed doors as I don’t have a tennis court at my house.
Here is the design of the book from start to finish:

We added their vows into the book.
